Alex Klein

Oroville, CA

In his own words

Residing in the town of Oroville, CA, Alex is always ready for the next tournament.  His father introduced him to tournament fishing at a young age and he has been hooked ever since. "I was born and raised in a fishing family," says Klein. Watching his father succeed on the West Coast and his Uncle succeed on a national level taught Alex that if you work hard enough you can have success in this sport.
This is a huge reason why I'm so excited about the APEX series. It's new to the West Coast and it's something we can build and make into something great for all the anglers on the West Coast. It's going to take a lot of hard work, but that is something I never shy away from because with hard work comes success. I believe that the Apex Series will be a great platform for West Coast anglers to showcase themselves and I'm excited to see where it goes.  I can also guarantee that when you see me you will always see a smile on my face because there are no bad days' fishing and I'm out enjoying something I'm very passionate about. So, when you see me, please come and introduce yourself and say 'Hi" I love meeting new people and talking about fishing.  Lastly, always remember to take a kid fishing and to pass it on!

Behind the Angler

Alex’s father (Steve Klein) had a fishing rod in his hand as soon he could walk. “My dad has taught me everything I know about fishing and I’m so lucky that he introduced me to fishing at such a young age” says Klein.  Alex fished his first team tournament with his dad when he was in the 4th grade, and they won! The rest is history.  Alex started fishing every team tournament that he could with his father.  Alex then went onto Chico State and got his bachelor’s degree and fished on the Chico State Bass Team qualifying for two Collegiate Bassmaster National Championships. Following his college graduation Alex entered his first professional tournament with Wild West Bass Trail. You can follow Alex on Facebook and Instagram @alexkleinfishing .

In the Boat

Shallow-water power fishing is Alex’s first choice. “If I can catch them on reaction lures like crankbaits, spinnerbaits, buzz baits, frogs, and smaller swimbaits then that’s how I want to catch them” says Klein.  Alex also loves to pull out his St. Croix flipping stick and go to work! “Flipping is one of my favorite things to do and I will flip any chance I get” says Klein.   “St. Croix rods make it so easy to throw all these different techniques.  The sensitivity and attention to detail of their rods is unmatched.” Alex runs a Vexus VX20 and if you were to look inside it you would find that it can hold all his St. Croix rods, all his reaction and flipping baits, as well as the always reliable Senko! To help Alex navigate and to help find fish Alex is running Lowrance electronics and a Ghost trolling motor along with the active target. “The new forward-facing sonar is a game changer and something everyone should have on their boat” says Klein.
