Apex 2022

In His own words:

I guide for a living. I show people how to fish; so, if you have questions and want to talk fishing, come on up and say hi. All of us anglers do the same tournament stuff all the time. APEX is bringing something extremely new.
We are learning as we go, and we are learning at the same pace. No one will have to catch up and that will make a better experience for all of us that is exciting.

Hometown:

Upper Lake , CA

Highlights:

WWBT Clear Lake Western Championship Pro/Am win, two top-3’s in the WON BASS Clear Lake California Open, ABA North Team Classic champion, biggest recorded win in a Berryessa Bass team event with 41.80 and a 11 ½ kicker,
numerous other team event wins

Behind the angler:

John’s grew up at Clear Lake and fished for a variety of
species as far back as he can remember. At 12-years-old, he met a guide – “Big George”. Big George was a tournament angler and put John on his first double-digit bass when he was in 6th grade. It went 12 ¾-pounds. At 18-years-old, John’s
dream was to start a business as a salmon guide; however, salmon season was shut down that year. John parlayed his money into a bass boat and tournament fishing and has been at it since that time.

In the boat:

John’s preferred method of bass catching is with a rattle bait – a Lucky Craft LV 500, a Strike King Red Eye Shad, and a Spro Aruka Shad are some of his favorites. He fishes those with Douglas Rods and Shimano reels. His boat holds both Lowrance and Garmin graphs.
