Mark Lassagne

Apex 2022

In His own words:

I love the sport of bass fishing and love to compete. I hope that never dies. I have a really good work ethic. I work hard to catch the fish that I catch. There are a lot of guys that have a natural talent to catch fish. For me, I have to work a lot harder than those guys to do the same thing they do. I know that and I am prepared to do that. I am really excited to be involved with APEX as it brings the West Coast up to East Coast standards, when it comes to exposure, television coverage and building the fan base.

Hometown:

Dixon, Calif.

Highlights:

Cashed a check on every lake across the West Coast, numerous top-10’s in multiple circuits, 2016 Bassmaster Federation State Champion, Black Bass World Championship win for Team USA, 3-time WWBT Pro/Am Championship qualifier, 4-time West Coast Bass Classic qualifier, 5-time FLW Championship qualifier, 3-time BFL Regional qualifier, 4-time B.A.S.S. Federation Regional qualifier, Bassmaster Top-150 qualifier and various team championship qualifiers

Behind the angler:

Mark fished very little as a youth as no one in his family participated in the sport. He caught his first bass when he was 30-years-old. He instantly fell in love with the sport. At 35, he jumped into fishing tournaments as a non-boater and soon after moved on to the pointy-end of the boat.

In the boat:

Mark’s favorite technique is punching with a Yamamoto Flappin’ Hog and a River2Sea Trash Bomb. His go-to setup for his punch rig is a 7’1’’ Okuma TCS Extra-Heavy rod. His compartments are loaded with A-rigs, River2Sea spinnerbaits, Z-Man Jack Hammer ChatterBaits and shakey heads for the lakes. When targeting the California Delta, he adds flipping and punching gear, more ChatterBaits, more spinnerbaits, River2Sea frogs, and wacky-rigged 6- to 7-inch Yamamoto Senkos. He also carries Phenix Hydra 8X braid and Gamakatsu Hooks. His rod locker is full of Okuma rods – Helios and Psycho Sticks.
