“PJ” Ronald Bruggeman
Apex 2021
In His own words:
Fishing is all about fun for me and thinking that way is how I fish a lot better. I know that anyone can do anything they want to do. I come from nothing and always was told I couldn’t do this, but now I’m doing it. If you can dream it, you can do it. When I was offered the opportunity to fish APEX, I couldn’t turn it down. It will be a great opportunity for anglers in the West to be promoted in a way they never have. I am also excited that Bass Cat is a part of APEX. I’ve been a Bass Cat owner for the last 12 years and I wouldn’t be anything else. Their involvement with APEX meant a lot to me.
Hometown:
Potter Valley, CA
Highlights:
Berryessa TOC win, 2-time runner-up Clear Lake WON Bass California Open, biggest recorded win in a Berryessa Bass team event with 41.80 and a 11 ½ kicker, 12.98 personal best largemouth
Behind the angler:
Growing up, PJ fished every weekend with his father. He entered his first tournament at 23-years-old and hasn’t stopped since.
In the boat:
Swimbaits are always tied on PJ’s rods. GJC Custom Baits and Toxic Baits are some of his favorites; but he carries a wide selection and brands. Rattle
baits and crankbaits also fill the lockers. If summertime has hit the punching and frogging gear also hold a big place. He is stocked with G-Loomis rods and Shimano reels.
